Grilled Sirloin Steak with Herbs
When we go on vacation or attend celebrations with our friends and family, we often think we have to put a pause on our healthy eating in order to be social. But there are plenty of delicious recipes out there that are both healthy and appealing to all parties. Try this fire grilled steak, add your favorite grilled vegetables, and laugh with your loved ones.
One 20-ounce grass fed sirloin steak, cut 1 1/2 inches thick
3 Tbsp mixed chopped herbs (rosemary, thyme, oregano, or marjoram)
1 1/2 teaspoons coarse sea salt
1 tsp fresh-ground black pepper
1 Tbs olive oil
Trim off and discard all but 1/4 inch of fat from the steaks. Mix herbs, salt, and pepper together and rub into steak. Drizzle rubbed steaks with olive oil. Let the steak sit for one hour at room temperature.
Prepare a hot fire, (or if using a gas grill preheat to highest setting) preheat, clean and oil the grill. Put the steak on the grill and cook for 3 minutes, rotate 110 degrees to make crosshatch grill marks, if desired, and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes. Turn the steak over and repeat. Check for doneness after 8 to 10 total cooking time. If not done, turn and continue cooking. A steak grilled rare takes about 8 to 10 minutes in all, medium-rare takes 10 to 12 minutes, and so forth. Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Serve with your favorite grilled vegetable (we love these suggestions from Bon Appetite) and enjoy!
