Anna Ponomarenko
Week 1: It’s All Up To Me
My name is Anna Ponomarenko and I am one of the Sky Fit Challenge winners! I am proud to say that I will be going through a difficult and rigorous journey for the next 3 months. Its called getting beat into shape!
I am 23 years old and getting in shape is my number 1 priority. Some of it (or a lot of it) is because I want to look amazing, but also because I want to actually feel my age. This means feeling more youthful, energetic, alert, and confident. It really is true what they say: what you put in is what you get out of it!
Getting into shape doesn’t just mean getting skinny, it means having continuous healthy habits that you adapt into your life. Exercise and food are the two main ingredients to a healthy lifestyle.
Thanks to Open Sky Fitness, my week consists of personal training three days a week with Rob (trainer), cardio on my own the other three, as well as gyrotonics and nutrition education with Devon (nutritionist) once a week.
Getting physical:
I threw myself into this challenge knowing that its going to kick my ass the first few weeks. Well let me tell you….I was definitely feeling the pain within three days. I couldn’t walk up the stairs or even get out of my car without having to cringe from my sore muscles. Even turning in my bed was a painful endeavor!
My personal training workout is packed full of tough circuit training that definitely put me through the ringer. As soon as I am finished with one set, I am only aloud a 45 second break and then thrown into the entire circuit aaalll over again. I think I almost blacked out and vomited on Wednesday. Thankfully I didn’t!!!
My biggest challenge:
- The physical exercise I know I can do. My biggest hurdle to get over is my diet. I love food that tastes good and isn’t quite so healthy…
- I love cheese, meat, pasta, Mexican food, pizza, beer, and everything else in between. This all needs to change.
- I will be cutting out all alcohol, carbs, and processed foods that I had in my everyday diet.
- I realized that the biggest thing missing from my diet are vegetables. I never eat them!
- Filling up my plate with veggies is going to be the biiiig change for me. Keeping a food journal will allow me to itemize exactly what i put into my body. This is actually going to make me more contentious of what I am eating.
I am also excited for all the cool recipes I will be able to utilize for protein shakes! These will help rebuild my body after my crazy workouts. I will share what I can with all of you :]
So wish me luck and follow my journey into the unknown world of healthy!
