Juli Bauer (PaleOMG) On Creating a Diet That Works for You

Juli Bauer is the founder and editor of the always-candid, never-preachy PaleOMG. She is truly one of Paleo’s most outspoken and hilarious crusaders. On today’s show, she joins Rob, Jeff and Alec to talk about her crazy rise from food blogger to NYT Bestseller.

Juli found herself frustrated following recipes, so she started making them up herself. It wasn’t always easy — “who doesn’t love eating shit food?” — but she wanted to see how long she could stick to a diet.

It was around that time that she started doing Crossfit, which has completely changed her life. She talks to the Open Sky gang about the kind of exercises she performs (lots of Burpees) and why she continues working as a trainer, even though she makes “absolutely no money.”

Juli follows the 80/20 rule of eating (80% whole, clean food, 20% indulgences) but she doesn’t binge on the weekends and stays away from gluten.

“I don’t let the 20% control the rest of my life,” she says.

She’s an inspiring person in the Paleo world who has always marched to the beat of her own drum and created her own rules.
