Extreme Warrior Maca Smoothie

We talked about Superfoods in last weeks Lunch Crunch and Devon,  the new nutritionist for Open Sky Fitness, provided this great smoothie to try from David Wolfe’s book Superfoods.

The shake includes several superfoods.  Maca is a root vegetable well known for increasing energy levels and stamina, as well as improving fertility levels and physical endurance. Activated barley is rich in beta-glucans and is said to also help improve energy and endurance as well as strengthen the immune system, balance cholesterol levels, and calm the digestive system.  And finally, Goji Berries, one of the most nutritionally rich berries, are thought to help aid the immune system, lower cholesterol, build muscle tissue and burn body fat.

This is a great shake to try after a workout!

Extreme Warrior Maca Smoothie
4 Cups Hemp Milk (or milk of choice)
1 Scoop Sun Warrior Barley (activated barley)
1 Scoop Protein Powder of choice (brown rice, hemp, sun warrior, etc)
1 Handful Goji Berries

Blend all ingredients and enjoy.  You can also add cinnamon, vanilla bean, and chocolate powder. If you don’t have all the ingredients don’t worry, experiment with what you have!
